Cassandra “Sandy” Isabel Droll, 50, of San Angelo, Texas, joined her loving, heavenly Father on January 8, 2024, after courageous battles with cancer. Sandy was born on July 8, 1973, in El Paso, Texas to Isabel Martinez and Steven R. Thurman.
During her childhood, Sandy grew up in El Paso, Texas, Victoria, Texas, Danville, Illinois, Clovis, New Mexico, Odessa, Texas and San Angelo, Texas with her sister Jacqueline Schneider and brother Steve Thurman. Sandy graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1991. Sandy earned her bachelor’s degree in business and finance from Angelo State University in 1996. She continued her education by studying Occupational Safety and Health at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Sandy started working for Principal Industries as an environment, health and safety specialist in 2016 where she fell in love with the company and her fellow employees. Principal Industries was graciously with Sandy during her diagnosis and illness, helping her and her family in any way they could.
Sandy loved visiting Disney World with her daughter Ashton Droll. She loved taking pictures and making lifelong memories with all those around her and close to her. Sandy fought and battled everyday through her treatments, travels to Houston to get treatments, and her willingness to endure anything she had to help her have more time with her true love and passion, her daughter Ashton Droll. Her dedication and her relentless effort to continue to battle and try to beat her cancer is a testament to her character and fortitude. She was a helpful friend, caring, devoted daughter, and loving sister and mother.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Ashton Droll of San Angelo, mother Isabel Thurman of San Angelo, sister Jacqueline Schneider and brother-in-law Scott Schneider of Iliff, Colorado, brother Steve Thurman and sister-in-law Holly Thurman of Lubbock, Texas, nephews Zach Johnson, Zeke Johnson, Noah Johnson, Jackson Thurman and niece Taylen Thurman, aunts Elsy Aguilera and family, Patsy Sanchez and family, both of El Paso, Texas, uncles Ramon Martinez of El Paso, Texas, and Dr. Rodolfo Martinez and family from Lubbock, Texas. Sandy is preceded in death by her grandparents Ramon and Elisa Martinez of El Paso, Texas.
Visitation for Cassandra Droll will be Saturday, January 13th at Harper Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Open Viewing will be Sunday January 14th from 1-5 p.m.. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Sandy will be Monday January 15th at 10 a.m. at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas.
