Hilda Yvonne (Beaver) Nason was born to parents, Otto Thomas Beaver and Carrie Zuma (Rippetoe) on August 6, 1939, in Stephenville, TX.
She passed into the glory of Heaven on January 2, 2024, where her loved ones who had preceded her were there to greet her.
She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1957, with honors as the class Salutatorian. She served as an officer of several organizations, including the National Honor Society.
In 1962, she married the love of her life, Ronald Richey Nason, at Temple Baptist Church in San Angelo. They celebrated 57 loving and faithful years together.
In 1964, Ronald and Yvonne moved to Dallas, TX. She was employed as an administrative assistant to the Dallas County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office until the joyous birth of their son, Christopher Marc Nason in 1969, when she became a stay-at-home mom.
In 1971, the Nason family moved to Lewisville, TX where they resided for 33 years.
Yvonne was active in the Lewisville Community serving as Cub Scout Leader, President of Degan Elementary PTA, Vice President of Miliken Middle School PTA, and Lewisville High School PTSA. She served for years as the chairperson of the United Way Campaign and was chosen as Young Homemaker of the Year. Beginning in 1979, she was employed with the Lewisville Independent School District which she served faithfully for 24 years as school secretary, receiving multiple distinctions including District employee of the year twice.
During this time, Yvonne remained active in many clubs and professional organizations, and was honored with a National PTA Life Membership upon her retirement from Creekside Elementary School in 2001.
As an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lewisville, Yvonne served as President of the Sunday School Class and a member of the greeting team. She also served as the Treasurer of the Lewisville Retired Teachers Association and became an avid advocate for school employees across the state. In 2003, she was recognized by the Texas Legislature for her tireless advocacy with special commendation.
In 2004, she returned to San Angelo, becoming an active member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church. She served on the Women’s Leadership Team, Offering Committee, was President of Friendship Sunday School Class and founder and director of Caring Connections outreach to homebound members.
She also served as President of the San Angelo Retired Teachers and Association and as legislative chairperson.
Yvonne loved God, her family and friends, and people. She liked to play any game (especially Mah Jong), spend time with her husband and son, and decorate her immaculately clean house for every holiday, especially Christmas.
She believed each person was created for God’s purpose until the last day of life, and she lived her life accordingly, actively growing God’s Kingdom until the last few months of her life.
Yvonne is survived by her son, Chris; her cousins, Judy Rippetoe, Fred Rippetoe, and Kelly Vittum; a large group of close friends including members of her Sunday School Class, and Traci Terrill.
