David Camarillo Sr., 75, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2023 surrounded by his wife and family. David was born to Clemente Sr. and Librada Duran Camarillo on July 14, 1948 in San Angelo, Texas. As a child he grew up in Wall, Texas on the Wilde’s ranch, then moved to San Angelo.
David married the love of his life, Maria Ester Tambunga, on May 27, 1972 and celebrated 51 years together raising seven children. David was a self-employed contractor for 30 plus years. David was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved watching football & baseball, playing golf, fishing, gardening and tending to his koi pond. David really loved visiting the ranch and setting up his deer blinds. He also enjoyed going for a cruise on his Harley.
David is survived by his wife Maria Tambunga Camarillo, daughter Brenda Camarillo, son David Camarillo Jr. and wife Maggie, daughter Belinda Camarillo, daughter Libby Kendrick and husband Bryan, daughter Tonya Camarillo and Tony Sanchez, daughter Cynthia Lapaix and husband Elvis, and son Jody Pete Camarillo and wife Melinda. David had 24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
David is also survived by his brother Daniel Camarillo Sr., brother Ramiro Camarillo Sr., sister Sandi Craig and sister Joann Camarillo.
David was preceded in death by his parents Clemente Sr. and Librada Duran Camarillo, two sisters Mary Ellen Zapata and Nancy Ynojosa and two brothers Clemente Camarillo Jr. and William Camarillo.
David was a faithful servant of the Lord and loved sharing God’s Word with his family and friends. He never let his wife, children, family and friends go without a prayer. David was a member of Cross Road Assembly of God Church and he especially loved being part of the prison ministry.
David’s favorite bible verse (the first verse his father taught him) was: Isaiah 26:9
With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
We would like to say thank you to our family and friends for being here for us. And would also like to extend a special thank you and appreciation to the Shannon hospital ICU nurses, Dr. Zarate, Dr. Perret, Dr. Cummings, Dr. Chang, Dr. Dacy, Hospice of San Angelo, the Palliative Care of Shannon hospital, Chaplain Stan, Pastor Steve and Cindy Hamm and the Cross Road family.
The memorial service will be at 1pm, Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Cross Road Assembly of God 301 N. Marie St., San Angelo, Tx 76905.
