Rebecca Buck, longtime San Angelo resident passed gently on December 15th. Known for her wry sense of humor and kind but no-nonsense attitude she will be greatly missed.
Rebecca was a dedicated educator, teaching with the San Angelo ISD for over thirty years. Her joy of learning was shared with countless Early Childhood Students. Her specialty was helping children find their voices with many parents expressing dismay at just how talkative their quiet child had become, but only in the best ways.
Rebecca also worked for the many years part time as Raffles the Shakey’s clown. Her smile and twinkling eyes while wearing her costume helped many children celebrate their birthdays. She always loved being recognized by former Shakey’s patrons, many adults with fond memories.
Rebecca was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She helped with The Rainbow Girls as well, having been a member herself.
A call to help led her to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity building homes around town.
Rebecca met the love of her life in the second grade, marrying in 1966. For the years before her husband Lonnie Leonard (Buddy)’s death in 2020, they cooked, laughed, loved and raised their children to be strong smart and independent people always offering advice and celebrating their successes.
Rebecca joins her parents Elsie (Gwen) and BJ Behringer, husband Buddy, and in-laws Lonnie Buck, Jr. and Imogene Buck, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and pets in joyous reunion above. She will be remembered by brother James Behringer and his family, brother-in-law Lewis Jess Buck and his family, children Jennifer Hair and Kevin Buck, son in law Michael Hair, grandchildren Katherine Yagghiyaei, Maya Hair, Amial Hair, grandson in law Shant Yagghiyaei and dogs, Chester, Jack and Biscuit.
The Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mike McCravy officiating. The burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
The family would appreciate in lieu of flowers donations to Meals for the Elderly.
