Paul Richard McLaughlin passed away on November 8, 2023.
We are happy for him that he is reunited at last with his beloved Carol.
For over 50 years, he owned and operated Rankin Automatic Transmission. From the late 1960’s to the early 2020’s, the number of sick days he took could be counted on one hand.
He loved his family and his friends. He also loved cars, his dogs, and poker!
He has been often referred to as “one of a kind”. He was a quick witted, dry humored and deeply intelligent person. And despite a carefully maintained gruff exterior, he was constantly, quietly helping others.
He was born September 17th, 1946 in Boston, Massachusetts to Gerald and Virginia McLaughlin. His parents preceded him in death as did older brother Jerry, and wife, Carol.
For all the success that hard work earned him, he once said that it was his kids and grandkids that made him feel “accomplished”.
They are: son Stephen and his wife Anissa, daughter Kristen Dunlap and her husband David. His grandchildren Elijah Conner, Addison and Jack Paul McLaughlin. Grace Clark and her husband Weston, and Sarah Dunlap.
Plus his great grandsons Wyatt and Sutton Clark (in route!).
He is also survived by his sister Janice Wiitala and her husband Chuck, and brother-in-law Charles Beasley, his wife Karnella and Paul’s nephew, Chase Beasley.
The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice and Visiting Angels for all their kind care. And we would like to especially recognize John Key, Billy Park and Robert and Angela Heitzenreiter for their friendship and love.
