Jason George Thurston of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in San Angelo, Texas. Jason was born in Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C. to George Earle and Nancy Stickle Thurston and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. After high school, he held various jobs around Silver Spring until he moved to San Angelo, TX in 2008. In April 2008, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Communications Maintenance Technician. His first assignment after advanced individual training was at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA. His next assignment took him to the Presidio of Monterey, CA to learn Persian Farsi at the Defense Language Institute. His final assignment took him to Fort Bliss Texas, where he separated from the Army and returned to San Angelo.
Jason met Adriana Varela while working in San Angelo before he left for Basic Combat Training, and they married in November 2008 while he was home on leave. The two welcomed a daughter, Lily Marie Thurston, on April 2, 2012.
After the Army, Jason became a stay-at-home dad caring for his daughter. In 2019, Jason began his civil service career as a Supply Technician at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX. He started with the Logistics Readiness Squadron and then moved to the 316th Training Squadron. His hobbies included building models, collecting sports memorabilia, playing poker, and watching his beloved Washington Redskins play football.
Jason is preceded in death by his father, George. He is survived by his wife, Adriana Leah Thurston, of San Angelo; his daughter, Lily Marie Thurston, of San Angelo; his mother, Nancy DeHart and her husband, Earl, of Chambersburg, PA; his brother, Joshua David Thurston, of Silver Spring, MD; his nephew, Julian Isiah Thurston, of Urbana, MD; his stepmother, Susan Thurston, of Harpers Ferry, WV. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of very good friends.
