Yulanda Denise McDowell, 66, of San Angelo, Texas passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Memorial service will be at 1:00PM Friday, June 9th, 2023 at the James Rogers Garden Gazebo. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Yulanda was born in Lamesa, Texas on June 4, 1956 to Willie Pearl Wesson and Bill Ray Harris. Yulanda grew up and attended school in San Angelo. She was crowned homecoming queen in 1971-72 at Edison Jr. High School.
Yulanda worked at RG Barry Corp until moving to Houston where she became manager of Casual Corner before starting her own housecleaning business with her sister, Sheila, called Better Than Maids. Later she moved back to San Angelo and worked at Ethicon for over 10 years. Yulanda was blessed to find love with Lloyd Joiner and with Clois McDowell until his passing. Her recent days were spent as a loving daughter, companion, and caregiver to her mother, Pearl. She enjoyed watching TV with her mother and reading her Bible. Yulanda had strong spiritual beliefs and a love for Jehovah God. She believed in the promise of the resurrection in the near future. Yulanda was a very happy person, even in the morning, and will be remembered as always having a smile on her face.
Yulanda is survived by her mother, Willie Pearl Wesson and siblings Sheila Henry, Dwight Harris (Janice), Quinton Harris, Yuel Harris, Orlando Harris, and Phoebe Evans (Richard). Although Yulanda had no children of her own, she leaves many nieces and nephews that she viewed as her own as well as a host of additional family and friends who will miss her dearly. Yulanda was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Roy and Miss Pearl Jackson.
