Robert Everett Robinson went to be with our Lord on June 3, 2022, in San Angelo, Texas. He was born on November 26, 1936, in Bronx, New York to W. C. and Caroline Robinson.
After graduation from Christopher Columbus High School, Bob joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served for four years. Following his military service, he attended Baylor university and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. While at Baylor, he met his future wife, Kay Been. They were married in Grand Prairie, Texas and recently celebrated a short sixty years together.
Kay lovingly teased Bob about being born on Thanksgiving Day at Fordham Hospital which is across the street from the Bronx Zoo. She called him a turkey born in the Bronx Zoo. He liked that story and repeated it many times.
After graduation from Baylor, Bob began his teaching career and culminated it in retirement after twenty-eight years. During his early years of teaching, he earned his M.S. Degree from the University of North Texas.
Bob and Kay had three children, Robert Ray, Russell Jay, and Leta Kay. They reared their kids in Seminole, Texas, where Bob has many friends and ex-students that he fondly recalled and talked about during his last few years. He spent much time coaching Little Dribblers and Little League and delighting in watching his sons and grandkids excel in sports and academics.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Leta Kay; two brothers and their wives, Clyde and Dixie, and Edward and Terri; a niece, Kathy Gamble; and brother-in-law, Ray Been.
Those remaining to remember Bob joyfully and gratefully are, his loving wife, Kay, his two sons and their wives, Robbie and Lindy, and Rusty and Christie. His grandchildren who lovingly called him “Big Daddy”, Jantzen and wife Kaitlyn; Jaxson; Rush; Avery; Coleman; and Cannon; and sister-in-law, Owana Been. He appreciated and loved his niece Carol Baker and husband Bill, who were so faithful to visit and stay with him.
Bob’s graveside services will be held at Buffalo Gap Cemetery in Buffalo Gap, Texas, on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 10:00 AM. His very special officiant will be great nephew Scott Robinson Baker of Nashville, Tennessee.
Bob’s family will be forever grateful to the kind, loving, and empathetic care shown to him and his family by the staff at the Regency House and Hospice of San Angelo. Thank you also to our friends and family who lifted us in prayers.
