Dates
Melissa “Missy” Marie LaBarge, 52, was welcomed into the best place on February 20, 2022. She was born to LeeRoy and Sharon Marsden on June 8, 1969 in San Angelo, Texas where she was raised and lived her entire life. She was raised in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and some of her fondest memories were of her time spent with the youth group there and at Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat. She graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1987.
Thirty-five years ago, on February 21st, she and her life-long love had their first date. Rumor has it that she went out with Shane LaBarge because of his uncanny resemblance to actor Michael J. Fox! Missy and Shane were married on June 17th, 1989. In the midst of their commitment to one another, Kramer and Keegan were born. Missy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her boys and embraced every moment with them. It was this God-given motherly nature that rippled into the lives of Kramer and Keegan’s friends to whom she loved and welcomed as her own.
Missy was a domestic goddess during the early years of marriage and the boy’s elementary years. She wore that crown with great pride. As Kramer and Keegan entered their teen years, Missy entered esthetician school. She excelled in this capacity and often used Shane as a product and procedure test dummy! She graduated school and found employment at Reflections Day Spa. Outside of those walls, she was eager to share skin care tips and advice on how to shrink large pores!
The LaBarge Patio was Missy’s sanctuary; a place where all were welcome and met with loving hospitality. There was laughter, tears, arguments, songs sung, stories told, kids raised, people fed, problems solved, ideas born, and memories made on that patio. She cherished those times, as well as those who gathered.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 11:00 AM First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in San Angelo with Rev. T.J. Shoop-York officiating.
Upon arrival to the best place, Missy was reunited with several relatives and friends to whom she loved and missed dearly including her grandparents Eudell and Mary Barker, T.H. and Donna Marsden, Willard and Mary LaBarge, and Hilda Kirchman, and her father, LeeRoy Marsden.
She is survived by her husband Shane, two sons, Kramer and Keegan LaBarge, her mother, Sharon Marsden, all of San Angelo, two sisters Amy Simms (Shaugn) of Ballinger and Heather Polston (Rob) of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She is also survived by her parents’ in-law, Greg and Diana LaBarge, sister in-law, Dedra Knox (Danny) of San Angelo, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, a great nephew, and many friends.
Our hearts are broken and tears are falling in abundance, but there is peace in knowing we will once again be met with Missy’s loving hospitality in the better place.
