Joe Adolphus King, 89, of San Angelo passed away Monday, January the 24th. Joe was born November 15, 1932, in Winnsboro, Texas, to Ruben James King and Lola Mae Folsom. Joe King and Margaret Thompson married on September 10, 1955, at St. Peter's Church Fakenham and were married for a total of 57 years. During their time of life together, they would live in Spain, West Germany, Belgium, and the United States.
After Joe's retirement, they settled in Thetford, England, where Joe won awards year after year for growing Roses. Joe joked that he finally stopped so he wouldn't "get ran out of England". Joe and Margaret were involved in the local church.
At the age of 18 years old, Joe joined the Air Force in serving our country for a total of 20 years, with 2 years and 11months and 22 days of foreign and/or overseas. Master Sergeant Joe King retired from service on June 30, 1971. He was given many decorations, badges, and medals with two being the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Joe also received a Certificate of Appreciation for service in the armed forces by the Commander in Chief, Richard Nixon.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Ruben James and Lola Mae King of Seagraves and his loving wife Margaret of Thedford, England. Joe was survived by both his sisters Delilah Tupin and husband Kennard of Menard, Caroline Wood of Seagraves and many nephews and nieces, along with his good friend, Betty Green. Joe was loved by many and will always be remembered.
