Judy Fay Clayton entered the presence of the Lord on February 5, 2021 in San Angelo, TX after spending a brief time in the hospital from medical complications. She is survived by her son, James Clayton; granddaughter, Makendree Perez and husband Larry Perez Jr, grandson, Brydon Clayton and wife Miley Clayton, and grandson, Mason Clayton; great-granddaughters Aubree Rae and Jonesy Clayton, and great-grandson Deklan Perez; brother, Pete Sandel and wife Nicole James; niece, Julie Carruthers; nephew, Peter Sandel; grand-niece Lily Walts, and grand-nephew Cullen Carruthers. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Rusty Clayton, her parents, and her daughter Renee.
Judy was born on August 16, 1946 in Odessa, Texas to Wanda Ruth Dawkins and Benjamin Franklin Sandel. Four years later she became a big sister to her little brother, Pete Sandel.
Judy attended school in Sonora, TX before moving to Lovington, NM where she graduated high school and met the love of her life, Rusty Clayton, and married him in 1964 at the age of 17. Judy and Rusty then moved back to Big Lake, TX, where Judy spent her time as a housewife. In November of 1966 Judy gave birth to her son, Jamie Clayton. In September of 1993 she became a grandmother, known by her 3 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids as “Nana”.
Judy devoted her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. There was nothing more important to her than her family. She had a love and a passion for gardening, traveling, and spending time with family. She was known for her kind, loving, giving, and feisty spirit. Judy was the kind of person that never met a stranger, if you had an ear to listen, she had the time and a story to tell.
Judy has made a countless number of friends and family and the many memories being left behind by her are going to be cherished forever. She has reached her final home and is at peace now, back in the arms of her husband, Rusty, and in no more pain.
A visitation will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 5-7 PM. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake, TX.
