‘Freddy’ Frederick Leon Stanford, of Kermit TX died on January 11, 2021 at the age of 78. He was born on January 12, 1943 in Arkadelphia, AR, to the parents of Bill and Bertie Lee Dodd Stanford. He spent much of his childhood in Corpus Christi Texas where he graduated from Mary Carroll High School. He met and married the love of his life Ila Ray Layton through a mutual friend. They married February 9, 1962. He lived most of his married life in Odessa, TX where he owned several small businesses-Stanford Construction, Builder’s Tools & Fasteners and Wood Products. He was a member and deacon of the First Christian Disciples of Christ Church in Odessa Texas. He was also a member in the Masonic Lodge.
He loved going to the lake with family and friends. He was always ready to pull any poor soul on an innertube as well as water skiers. He loved to bass fish and be with family. He was always joking and teasing his children, grandchildren, and their friends with monkey bites and calling them by the wrong names and nicknaming their pets as Stupid #1, Stupid #2 and so on. He loved playing “red hand”, especially with his oldest granddaughter Michaela because she was so competitive.
He is survived by his wife Ila Ray Layton Stanford, two children Pamela Denise Stanford Glander and Frederick Blake Stanford, daughter-in-law Melanie Karol Taylor Stanford, six grandchildren Michaela Glander Ramirez, Victoria Sloane Glander, Shelby Taylor Stanford, Christopher Blake Stanford, Cassidy Paige Stanford and Rayla Payton Glander, four great-grand-children ,Zane Ramirez, Greyson Ramirez, Brody Ramirez, Lakeleigh Gross, brother, Robert Lee Stanford and wife Sue Stanford, sister-in-law Patsy Layton, nephews Aaron Stanford, Stephen Stanford, Josh Layton, nieces Penny Stanford, Dina Stanford La’Bossaura.
He was preceded in death by his brother Billy Stanford, sister-in-law Guyneth Layton Stanford, son-in-law Michael Glander and beloved springer spaniel Zandie.
