Jo Marie McCabe Chumley Collier was born in Robert Lee, Texas on July 29, 1926. She was raised by a rancher and a school teacher on the divide in West Texas. She married K.C. Collier on February 21, 1946 and had one daughter Kaci Jo Collier. They also raised a Granddaughter Kelly from the time she was 5 years old and were loving caring grandparents.
She was quite the eclectic woman and received her pilot’s license along with her husband. They enjoyed flying together for many years all over Texas.
She worked for the Permian Corporation for 33 years. She began sweeping the file room as a clerk and rose in the company becoming the manager of the Division Order Department overseeing hundreds of employees and was a very successful businesswoman in Houston. She retired and moved to San Angelo where they joined a RV travel group called the Roadrunners. They met many friends and traveled all over Texas with their group playing cards and having the best time.
She loves her books! Reading was her passion and she would always have up to 10 books in her walker even though she could not really read them anymore. She was so funny and had such a great sense of humor for her entire life. The love and compassion she had for others was amazing. Jo Marie loved God, her friends and her family and lived a wonderful full life. She will dearly be missed by all who knew her.
Jo Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband K.C. and her daughter Kaci Jo Collier. She is survived by her granddaughter, Kelly Coleman, of Kyle, TX; her nieces, Linda Lou Walker and her husband Royce, of Big Spring, TX, and Paula Sue Duncan and her husband Noel, of New Hampshire.
