Shigemi “Lucy” Kowalski passed away December 26, 2019 after a long battle with several health issues.
Lucy was born January 17, 1931 in Fukuoka, Japan to Shinsaku and Shizuoka Kosaki. She married and moved to the United States. Lucy worked and retired from Ethicon, a Johnson and Johnson company. Lucy moved to Village East Retirement Community in 1998 where she quickly became known for her sharing of food and goodies to anyone that came into her path. She was also the “newspaper” lady for the entire community where she placed everyone’s newspaper next to their doors on her early morning walks for many years.
Lucy’s greatest love was playing bingo and she and her girlfriends traveled to several cities playing bingo. Her second favorite thing was giving gifts to everyone.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother. She is survived by her sister, Hideko Saeki and her nephew, Shinichi Saeki as well as many, many friends in San Angelo. Lucy was taken care of by some special angel’s during the last several years: Marcella Staewen, Misako Bradford and Kay Jackson.
Lucy requested that no services be held at this time.
