David R. Johnston, 54, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in Eden, Texas. David was born October 1, 1965 in Dallas, Texas to Jerry Leon Johnston, Sr. and Linda Lou Smith Johnston. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1984. After high school, he attended Angelo State University where he received his Associate Degree in Nursing. He worked as a Registered Nurse in San Angelo and Austin in various fields including oncology and clinical research. He was passionate about the wellbeing of his patients and had an incredible bedside manner which allowed him to care for his patients on a personal level. He later returned to Angelo State to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and his Master’s Degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology. In his spare time, he was an avid movie buff and enjoyed watching movies of all kinds. His favorites of all time were the Star Wars motion pictures. He was also a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. He was very intrigued by politics, and would always be sure to present his opinion, relentlessly debating with those who disagreed. He was interested in many topics and loved reading books and magazines, especially those about science. David was a loving son, brother and father, who was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them. His compassion for others, his love for family and friends, and his incredible sense of humor will remain in our hearts forever. David was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Johnston. He is survived by his father, Jerry Leon Johnston, Sr., of Palestine, TX; his sons, Matthew Johnston, of San Angelo and William Johnston, of San Antonio; his brother, Jerry Leon Johnston, Jr. and his wife Debra, of Keller, TX; three nephews, Jeremy, Joshua and Michael Johnston; and close friends, Johnny Walker and wife Sheri, of Mertzon, TX. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Harper Funeral Home. David’s family wishes to thank the staff at Concho Health and Rehabilitation Center, Solaris Hospice, and the ER and 6h floor staff at Shannon Medical Center for their care and unyielding compassion during his illness.
