Edith Murle Jackson VanZant was born February 14, 1926 to Wilmer and Effie Jackson in Abilene, Texas. She married the love of her life, Kenneth VanZant, on February 1, 1944 and for the next 52 years they spent their lives side by side. Murle enjoyed hunting, fishing, Blue Grass music festivals, traveling and baking. Her life was full and she was very proud of her family. She is survived by her four children, Edith (Cliff) Moore, Tommy (Sheila) VanZant, Irene (Dennis) Hogan and Eddie (Jo) VanZant. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, Misti (Kelly) Bearden, Cory (Rhonda) Moore, Laura (Dan) Hollingshead, Holly VanZant, Jimmy Zyla, Kenny (Shelly) VanZant and Jordan (Geoff) Watson. Great-grandchildren include Jordan Curtis, Dylan and Stormy Bearden, Bradley VanZant, Taylor Angel, Emily and Koby Hollingshead, Chloe and Ivy VanZant and one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild on the way. She also has three sisters, Fay Wheeler, Louise McHenry, and May Dean (Mauri) Fitzgerald.
Family members waiting for her in heaven include her beloved husband Kenneth, parents, Wilmer and Effie Jackson, two brothers, Elsie and Johnnie Jackson, and a grandson, Michael Shane Zyla.
The family would like to thank the Bronte Nursing & Rehab and Kindred Hospice for the loving care they provided.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday in the Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Phariss officiating with burial to follow in the Water Valley Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Cory Moore, Kelly Bearden, Jordan Curtis, Dylan Bearden, and James McCleery.
Murle was blessed with a happy life, but she was ready to meet Jesus and see her husband again.
