Garry W. Halter, 80, of San Angelo Texas, passed away on July 3rd, after a lengthy illness.
He was born December 12, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He married the love of his life, Ann G. Ljunglin, July 11, 1959.
In 1974 Garry, Ann and their children moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. He retired as an engineer with Quest in 1990. After his retirement, he pursued a career in firearms engraving.
He also volunteered at the Wyoming State Museum and at Meals-on-Wheels. He was long time member of the Firearms Engraving Guild of America and a member of the American Legion. He moved from Cheyenne to San Angelo in 2003 to be closer to his grandchildren. He was a member of Bentwood Country Club and an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, his son Garry (Wendy) of Cheyenne, and two daughters, Barbara A. (John) Hexem of Gilbert AZ, and Victoria L. (Richard) Garrido of San Angelo, 8 Grandchildren, and 12 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother.
He will be forever remembered for his beautiful artwork, sculptures, engraving, dedication to his family, strong work ethic, service to others and his support of military and law enforcement.
Celebration of his life will be conducted at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd. San Angelo, TX at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 6th, officiated by Pastor Gary Karschner.
Cremation has taken place under the supervision of Harper Funeral Home.
Friends are invited to join the family for refreshments at the Halter home.
