Mickey received his long-awaited call from Heaven on March 23, 2018.
Mickey was born to Fred and Eva Mae (Smith) Harr on June 10, 1932, in Millett, Texas. This small rural community influenced his early Christian training. At the age of 5, he began his life long commitment to Jesus Christ.
On August 29, 1953, Mickey married Winagene “Jean” Randolph in Cherokee, Texas. They had four children: Jo Harr, Debbie Walls and husband Jerry, D’Ann Craft and husband Rick, Jay Harr and wife Mindi. They were blessed with five grandchildren: Caitlin Craft, Alex Harr, Natasha Harr, Kyle Craft, and Casey Craft. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Mickey is survived by his brother Lamar Harr and wife Debbie, his sister Linda Yeats and husband Bill, and many nieces and nephews.
In 2008, Mickey was preceded in death by Jean, his wife of 54 years. Also preceding him were his parents, his brother Lee, and his brother Fred.
Mickey served four years in the Air Force, then worked over 30 years as an electrical engineer and in management with the Federal Aviation Administration. After retiring, Mickey became a Realtor (later an owner) with Don Johnson Realtors in Brownwood, Texas, and opened Mickey Harr Real Estate.
Mickey’s passion in life was serving his Lord wherever he was led. He served as a Gideon for almost 50 years and as a volunteer chaplain for 23 years with the Texas Youth Commission in Brownwood, Texas. He worked with the New Mexico Baptist Convention and The World Mission Board. At various times, he served as interim pastor, educational director, and interim music director in churches where his family worshipped.
Mickey’s life will be celebrated 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 27, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas. He will be buried next to his wife in the Cherokee Cemetery in Cherokee, Texas, at 2:30 pm on the same day.
The family requests any memorials be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 812, San Angelo, Texas 76902.
