Our brother Larry Travis Dabney passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 with his two sisters and his brother by his side. He was born in El Paso, Tx August 10, 1951, moved with his gamily to Midland, and later to San Angelo. He was a graduate of Central High School.
Larry was an avid arrowhead hunter and collector, and a Harley enthusiast who traveled many scenic roads throughout Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
As a paint contractor, Larry was privileged to paint some of the finest homes in San Angelo and the surrounding areas. He took great pride in his work and was well-known for his meticulous workmanship. After retiring, Larry relished the peace and quiet of his home in Christoval.
Larry kept his sense of humor throughout his illness. He made us laugh and smile right up to the end. His quick wit and ready smile endeared him to the Shannon Hospital nurses and staff. They complimented him frequently and visited his room often just to check on him and say hello. He had a charm about him that was endearing and memorable.
Larry is survived by his sisters Jo Lyn (Jody) Johnson, Nancy Davis and husband Don, brother Ronnie Dabney, brother-in-law and best friend Bert Johnson, nephew and namesake John Travis Johnson, daughters Melissa Ann Smith and husband Lyle, Lauren Lyn Dabney, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Woodley Dabney and Murry Jean Dabney Wells.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, March 17 at 2:00 pm at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Lakan Mariano. Arrangements are made with Harper Funeral Home.
Sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and therapists at Shannon Hospital who cared for Larry, and special thanks to Dr. Linda Hitchcock and Nurse Tracie Phillips.
