Robert Royce Brown left this world to go be with his Savior on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. He missed being 82 by 8 days.
Robert was born February 16, 1935 in Menard County near London, TX. He grew up on the family farm where he learned the value of hard work and had the ability to appreciate his surroundings, good or bad. He enjoyed driving the tractors, tending to the animals and going off alone to be in nature to hunt. In 1955 he joined the United States Army. He was to be sent to Korea when at the last moment orders were changed to Germany. He worked for Strain Brothers for 16 years and the Texas Highway Department for 26 years.
Robert and Joy were married for 46 wonderful years and according to Robert, they were a good match. They enjoyed their friends and they had many. The daily lunch special won’t be the same without Robert. They both danced at the VFW for 40 years and Robert loyally attended functions there.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Laurana Brown and 8 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Joy, his brother’s-in-law, Joe Tims and Billy Tims (Vicki Draper.) Although he and Joy never had children of their own, they had many nieces and nephews that loved and visited them whenever they could. Their house was a hub for visiting family. His nieces and nephews are Rebecca, Tammy, Kevin (Rachel), Joey (Barbara), Tony (Ashley), and Troy(Tracie.) Great Nieces and nephews are Samantha, Austin, Layton, Ryan, Ashley, Joel, Jonathan, Hannah, Rebeka, Joey, Rachel, Sarah, Mica, Abby Gail, Justin, Nathan, Katie and Adam.

Robert was kind, considerate and the most honest person you could ever know. He was an avid Rangers baseball fan never missing a game. He was also an avid reader and loved history.
