Reagan Benjamin “Benjie” Bennett, 67, of San Angelo passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 in San Angelo. Benjie was born December 6, 1948 to R.B. Bennett, Jr. and Dorothea Teel Vandevanter. He grew up in San Angelo and after graduating from Rankin High School joined the United States Marine Corp. Benjie served his country proudly and honorably in Battery G., 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Platoon # 322 achieving the rank of Corporal. During his service in the U.S. Marine Corp he was awarded numerous commendation medals during the Vietnam War with one of them being a Purple Heart. After his time in the service, he came back to his home town and worked as a diesel mechanic for over 20 years at several local companies. Benjie was a loving son and brother and a very happy person by nature. In his spare time, he loved playing darts and hanging out with his extended family at the Lone Wolf Pub. He was also a very proud member of the VFW. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Benjie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his 3 Brothers, Barry Bennett and his wife Janice, of San Angelo, Bodie Bennett and his wife, Wanda, of Rankin, TX., and Shane Vandevanter, of San Angelo. A private service will be held on the family ranch at a later time.
