Max Weldon Messer, 76, died Sunday, August 7th, 2016 at his home surrounded by family.
Mr. Messer is survived by his wife of 20 years Delia; 7 children; Tracie, Kristie, Wendy, Steve (Irma), Stacy (Heather), Sylvia (Albert), and Scott (Erica). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; Rachel, Tyler, Madison, Caitlin, Michelle, Josh, Jeremy, Michael, Zac, Heidi, Candice, Sierra and Stason; his sister Elwanda King and numerous nieces and nephews.
Max was born on March 20, 1940 and raised in Connersville, Indiana. After graduating he was ready to see the world so he joined the Navy and proudly served his country in Vietnam.
After leaving the Navy he started his family and had a long career in sales before running several successful businesses of his own. He retired but decided to try one last career driving long haul loads, with Delia by his side seeing the country together along the way.
In his leisure time he was an avid sportsman loving fishing and hunting. He and Delia also loved taking trips to the casino, win or lose they enjoyed the time together.
The pallbearers for Mr. Messer will be; Steve, Scott, Stacy, Michael, Albert and Tyler.
Funeral services will be 7:00pm Tuesday August 9, 2016 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Rev. John Castillo, officiating. Graveside will be 2:00pm Wednesday August 10, 2016 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Menard, TX with Father Albert, officiating. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.
The family wishes to thank the Dr.’s, nurses and staff at Hospice of San Angelo for the loving care given to Max and our family.
