The earthly journey of Betty Jane Maness Boatman of Ozona (formerly of Many, La) ended on April 21, 2016. Betty was born 9-30-1933 in Callahan County, Tx to Allen Wilford and Willie Iris Lovell Maness. In high school, she was a cheerleader and an outstanding athlete. After graduating in Ozona, she married Kenneth Boatman. Betty had a strong devotion to her five children. Affectionately known as Ms. Betty or Ms. B, she spent her life brightening and supporting the lives of others. Her first job was at the Ranch Theater in Ozona. She later worked in the Sabine Parish Clerk’s office before becoming the Accounting/Office Manager for the Nehi Bottling, Wilson Well Service and Victoria Pump & Supply companies in Many.
Mrs. Boatman was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Boatman, and her son, Rayford. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Willie Maness along with her siblings James Maness, Sue Staley, Lou Dugan, June Meadows, and Bill Maness.
Betty is survived by her brother, Weldon and her loving, devoted sister, Pauline and husband, Jack Bentley of Ozona. Her surviving children are Barbara (and Vic) Nyvall of Henderson; Mary (and Ernie) Nyvall of Dayton; Kay (and Mark) McKay of Stonewall; and Paula (and Tim) Koch of Cypress.
She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren – Kacy Nyvall Withrow and Clay Nyvall; Waylon Boatman; Bettye Nyvall Huff, Shane Nyvall and Amy Nyvall Hoover; Kenny Hannon and Jamie Hannon Day; Trevor and Marisa Koch along with 14 great grandchildren – Corvin and Colby Withrow; Zander Nyvall; Jordan, Waylon Jr. and Skyler Boatman; Ocean and Stella Knight, Ian and Emma Huff; Devin, Cody and Brooklyn Nyvall; and Sage Day.
A Covered Dish Celebration Of Life will be held at her home at 11 am on April 24th. She will be interred at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona.
