Bill Lloyd, 84, of San Angelo, Texas, died on March 29, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Rosebud, Texas, Bill later moved to Ballinger and eventually went into the army where he was stationed in Korea for two years. Later, he went to work for Sears Roebuck in San Angelo, transferring in 1968 to the line-haul division in Dallas and living in Irving. After thirty-four years he retired and became a volunteer at the Scottish Rite Hospital for children as their popcorn man. Bill was a former master of the San Angelo Mason’s and an active member of the Christoval Mason’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Onnon B. and Eddie Mae Lloyd of Ballinger, and a sister, Mary June Barnes of Temple.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Wanda Lee Sartain from Mertzon. Two daughters, Sylvia McDaniel and husband Don of Lewisville, Texas, Deborah Gonzales and husband Henry of San Angelo, a brother, Roy Lee Lloyd and his wife Mary of Ballinger, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He had two young men he considered sons, Eddie Cates of Arlington and Louis Giddings of Burleson, and forty foster children who experienced his love and support.
Visitation is Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. Service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. with burial at Fairmont Cemetery in San Angelo.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and aides at Senior Care for taking good care of him during his illness and Gentiva Hospice of San Angelo. We’d also like to thank their family for the support during this time.
We’d like Bill to be remembered for his caring heart and warm smile.
