Layne Thomas Stubblefield went to be with the Lord, Sunday morning, August 30, 2015 at his home in Water Valley. Layne was born Tuesday, October 2, 1951 in Crosbyton, Texas to Clarence and Jane Stubblefield. During his 63 years of life, Layne lived life to its fullest. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Shore Fire Control Party Man. After his honorable discharge from the USMC, Layne earned a degree from Angelo State University as a Certified Public Accountant. Never a man to sit still, he also was a cotton farmer, auto salesman, and real estate broker for over 25 years. Layne loved to play golf and could be seen regularly on the golf course. Layne was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; and younger brother, Terry Dale Stubblefield.
Survivors include his mother, Jane Stubblefield; wife, Pat Stubblefield; sons, Tommy Stubblefield, James Shepherd and Jeffrey Tongate; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Butch Stubblefield, Bobby Stubblefield and Tonya Barry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in the Belvedere Memorial Park of San Angelo with Jeffrey Tongate officiating.
