Willard L. Meister was called to be with the Lord on July 21, 2015, at the age of 96.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Clara. They were married sixty years.
Willard was born in Red Oak, Missouri to George and Pearl Meister. He was a WWII veteran serving the Army Air Force in Normandy, Rhineland, Central Europe and No. France.
Willard enjoyed hiking the outdoors, especially in Arizona, building things of wood and working in his yard and garden. He wrote multiple poems about family, people he met and things of life. For the last ten years his close companion was his dearly loved dog Ginger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, grandson Gregory, granddaughter Erica and son-in-law Manuel.
Willard is survived by his son, Rod Meister and his wife Joyce; daughters, Glenda Meister and Paulette Hernandez; granddaughter, Kristy Wiggers; great grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle Wiggers; and several nieces and nephews.
Open visitation will be held all day Friday, July 24, 2015 at Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way with family present 6-8 p.m. Burial will take place in Springfield Missouri.
