Earl Cotton went to be with the Lord Jesus on 6/18/2015. He was born in Ballinger Texas on August 15, 1928 to Herbert and Winnie Cotton.
Earl spent his childhood in Ballinger, Texas. He joined the army at 16 and was stationed in Germany during World War II. He received a business administration degree from Texas Tech and Masters in math from Louisiana State University. While in Lubbock he married Susie Harris on May 29, 1953.
After graduation from Tech, he became a math teacher and football coach. He taught and coached in Lubbock public schools, Lubbock Christian High School, and Lubbock Christian College. While in Lubbock he was awarded teacher of the year. He was principal at Jim Ned High School in Tuscola Texas and superintendent of Wall ISD from 1974 to 1986. After retirement he taught math at Wall well into his 70's. Earl loved working with young people and had a great impact on many of their lives.
Earl loved the Lord, his wife and family, and helping people in the community. He was a founding member and an elder of Victory Christian Center. He loved fishing and barbecuing for his family.
Earl is preceded in death by his wife, Susie, of 53 years. He is survived by his three children, Mark and wife Brenda Cotton of Stanton Texas, Toni Cotton of Amarillo Texas, Tim Cotton of Junction Texas, 3 grandchildren (Becky Hull, Jon Cotton, Mallory Villa) and 3 great grandchildren.
Honorary pall bearers will be Chuck Brown, Jon Cotton, Brett Hull, Emilio Villa, Teddy Hallford, and Wayne Johnson.
Visitation will be held Monday June 22, 2015 between 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., at Johnsons Funeral Home. Graveside services for Earl will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 for 11:00 a.m. at Concho Cemetery (Hwy., FM 1929).
