Our beloved Gene went to meet his Creator on May 9, 2015. He was surrounded by family at Hospice Austin. He was 77 years old.
Family visitation is Monday, May 11, 2015 at Johnson's Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service celebrating Gene's life is at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Dr. Taylor Sandlin of Southland Baptist Church officiating.
Wilbert Eugene Eggemeyer was born in Rowena, Texas on September 23, 1937 to Wilbert Gerhard Eggemeyer and Julie Trojcak. He married Frances Musgrave Cox on December 28, 1979.
He worked 28 years as an engineer for GTE/Verizon in San Angelo and Houston. After retiring, he and Frances moved to San Mateo, California to work for Tektronics and then moved to Grass Valley, California to work for Grass Valley Group. They retired again in 2001 and settled at Cedar Park, Texas.
Gene was a talented artist and photographer. His interests were many: astronomy, trains, and anything related to computers and technology. He loved sharing his time and interests with his family.
He was a devoted Christian and active member for several years with the youth group at Calvary Chapel in Grass Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Julie, and grandparents, Adolph Louis Trojcak, Aloisa Mika, William Adolph Eggemeyer, and Regina Sokoloski Glass.
He is survived by his wife Frances of Cedar Park, Texas; and children: Mike and Sandy Newlin of San Angelo, Gary and Carolyn Camfield of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Mike and Rose Cox of San Antonio, Texas. He has seven grandchildren: Jamie Newlin Marit, Ryan Newlin, Jared Newlin, Heather Camfield Heavin, Rebecca Camfield, John Cox II, and Nadine Cox. He will be very much missed by his great-grandchildren: Luke Pruitt, Drake Pruitt, Ellison Newlin, Morgan Newlin, and Clara Marit. He is also survived by many cousins and aunts. He had many caring friends and family, especially Vaughn and Claudette Musgrave.
The family is very grateful to all of his caregivers, especially in the last weeks.
