Henry A. Schraer age 89 of San Angelo, Tx. went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 23, 2015.
He was born to Henry and Mary Mueller Schraer on April 1, 1925 in Moulton, Tx. In 1926 he moved with his family to Rowena, Tx. where he grew up and worked on the family farm with his father and brothers.
Henry enlisted in the Army on Feb. 11, 1945 at the age of 21. He achieved the rank of Sergeant while serving in the Europe Theater. For his service to his country he was awarded the Good Conduct Metal, Victory Metal and the Army of Occupation Metal.
Henry married Laverne Woods in Fort Pierce, FL on July 15, 1954. He worked in San Angelo, Tx. as a carpenter, farmer, a manager for the City Sewer Dept., a construction foreman for Seidel, Inc., and a test car driver for Goodyear Proving Grounds. He and Laverne also lived in Florida for a time where he worked in sales.
Henry and Laverne loved, honored and cherished each other for 56 years until her death in 2010. They also cherished their loving family, son Jeffrey T. Schraer and wife Diane of Plano, Tx., grandchildren Geraldo, Brachel, Priscilla and Emerey, 12 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank, Arnold and Ervin Schraer, sisters Elizabeth Gerngross and Madeline Seidel.
Please join the family in a celebration of Henry's life. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., March 27, 2015 at Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday March 28, 2015 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Greenwell, celebrant. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Cemetery.
