Andrew David Smith was born to Darrell and Kay Smith February 26, 1971 in San Angelo, Tx. He left us unexpectedly and far too soon on March 17, 2015. Andrew attended San Angelo Public schools and graduated from Central High School in 1989. He attended Texas Tech in Lubbock.
Andrew was a true lover of people and all social events. Nobody could work a room and spread joy and good will like Andrew. He was always genuinely interested in everybody and wanted to be their friend. He was a good friend to many. Andrew loved sports. He played tennis competitively from age 10 through high school, and later excelled at golf. He was on the Board at San Angelo Country Club and spent his 40th birthday winning a golf tournament in Argentina. He loved football and golf on TV, and his commentaries on the games were always funny, and his knowledge of both sports was amazing. Andrew loved working a "good deal", and he did a lot of good ones in his career in Real Estate investing. He loved San Angelo and left only to go to Tech and to work in the Mortgage Industry in Dallas for a few years before coming back home to use the knowledge he gained to continue investing and managing his and the family's Real Estate investments. Andrew loved good food and sharing it with family and friends. He was a fabulous cook and host.
Andrew was preceded in death by his brother, Scott, his grandparents, Floyd and Irma Smith, Geraldine Torres, and Jack and Mattie Lee Wigley, and his aunt, Catherine Birkner. He is survived by his parents, Darrell and Kay Smith, his sister Becky Oostveen and husband Gary, his brother Greg and wife Kathy. He is also survived by his nieces Emily Oostveen and Kaydee Smith Holderness, and his nephews Justin Oostveen and Daylan Smith, his uncle John and Betty Birkner, his cousin, Jennifer Birkner Kent, and his partner, best friend and encourager Steven Salas. He also leaves many, many wonderful friends who enriched his life and ours.
