Natividad "Natalia" Nanez formerly of Brownfield,TX, Completed her work of 91 years on this earth on March 12, 2015 with her immediate family present. She was born to Raymundo and Valvina Del Rio on December 24, 1923 in Panico Vera Cruz, Mexico. She was one of 15 brothers and sisters. Natalia married Francisco Nanez on November 11, 1949 her love of 45 years until his passing in 1994.
Natalia grew up a migrant worker with a limited education traveling across the U.S. working fields of cotton, potatoes, tomatoes, apples and so on. She never allowed her low education to keep her down. She was a resourceful woman. Her superior work ethic and ability learn quickly made her an asset to any job she did. She loved to cook for anyone that came in her home. She loved her faith and she unconditionally loved her family.
Natalia was a woman of strong faith in her Lord and Savior. She attended and was an active member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Brownfield, Tx. until she moved to San Angelo in 1988. She then became a member of Segunda Iglesia Bautista. In her journey of faith she was a member of the choir, chairwoman of the kitchen ministry, President of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU), Director of Vacation Bible School as well as a Sunday School Teacher of flocks of children and adults. She took part in church Missionary trips traveling to Pennsylvania and Mexico. She made a positive impression to many who met her.
Natalia is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and her husband.
She is survived by her only daughter, her Mija, Evelyn Nanez Garza and husband Ricky, two grandsons, Lee Castro and wife Michelle Gonzales Castro, and Marcello Garza all of San Angelo. Natalia has 7 great grandchildren that were the air she breathed. Brendon Castro, Jeremy Castro, Colby Castro, Gavin Castro all of San Angelo and Dalilah Garza, Mireya Garza, Neveah Garza, and Nicky Flores of San Angelo, great-great-grandson, Zachariah Garza. She also watched over many children during her lifetime as if they were her own.
The family would like to especially recognize and thank the kindness and compassion given by each staff member that cared for Natalia at Cedar Manor, Next Step, Special Care and Hospice of San Angelo. Thank you for all the work, support and prayers you provided.
Prayer service will be held at 6pm on Friday, March 13th at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 8am on Saturday, March 14th at Segunda Iglesia Bautista with Pastor Daniel Olivan officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
