Otho Denzil Brashear was born June 10, 1929 to Henry & Ela Brashear of San Angelo, Texas. He passed away on March 3, 2015 at the age of 85. Denzil graduated from San Angelo High School in 1947. On July 16, 1949 Denzil married Nona Estelle McDade and together they shared 60 years of marriage.
Denzil served five years in the United States Naval Reserve. He worked over twenty-five years in the automotive and truck industry, most of those years at Angelo Truck and Tractor. In 1975 Denzil opened Ag Mercantile, a farm & ranch supply store.
An active and outgoing man, Denzil was quick to share a funny word and a smile. He appreciated good stories, laughter, and ice cream. Denzil had a deep love of West Texas, and thought the mesquite tree covered terrain was God’s very best design. He was a loving father and grandfather, always taking great pride in all of his family’s accomplishments. Denzil loved nothing more than having the chance to brag about his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He always made sure to have the most current photographs possible to show off.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, his parents, and one brother. Survivors include his daughter Janet (Ed) Hopkins of Corona, CA and son Jimmy (Cindy) Brashear of San Angelo. He is also survived by grandchildren Jamie (John) Roddy, Amy Miertschin, Wes (Regina) Brashear, and Jennifer (Jacob) Bridgeman, and five great-grandchildren: Austin LeMew, Reagan & Nate Bridgeman, Leo Roddy, and James Brashear.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at St. Luke United Methodist Church on March 14th at 2:00 in the afternoon.
