Jack Clifton McDurmitt was born on October 18, 1925 in San Angelo, Texas to Otis S and Agnes Z McDurmitt. He passed from this life to the next on April 12, 2014. Jack proudly served in the U.S. Navy in 1943 with the Landing Craft Infantry Floatilla – one of only 2 surviving members. After returning from WWII he continued to school at TCU, Southwestern University and received his Architectural degree from Texas Tech University. On Christmas Eve in 1947 he married Mollie Francis Keyes and they shared 46 wonderful years together. They were charter members of St. Lukes United Methodist Church in San Angelo, Texas. Jack worked as an architect in the San Angelo area for his entire career forming a long term partnership with his friend Freddie McDonald. Jack was responsible for designing many city landmarks such as the Village Shopping Center, many hotels, restaurants, and homes. He developed a reputation for his knowledge of building jails and detention centers. Jack was most proud of his work on the expansion of Angelo Community hospital. Jack was a former Shriner and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed sharing these activities with his son,Damon and his grandson, Jody McDurmitt. He was married for the 2nd time in 1996 to Doris Dorrance. They shared many travel adventures before she passed away in 2005. Jack is preceded in death by his first wife Mollie; 2 sons, Dan and David McDurmitt; a grandson Jody McDurmitt; a granddaughter Anna McDurmitt; both his parents; a sister Juanita McDurmitt; his 2nd wife Doris and his brother-in-law Harvey “Bud” Keyes. He is survived by 2 children Diane McDurmitt Lopez and her husband Eli Lopez; son Damon McDurmitt and his wife Donna; 2 granddaughters Jennifer McDurmitt Rusk and her husband Danny and granddaughter Emily M.
