Primary Runoff Election Early Voting Begins May 16

 

Early voting for the May 24, 2016 Primary Runoff Election begins Monday, May 16. Voting will be conducted at the Edd B. Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard, on the 1st floor. Paper ballots will be available in early voting only. Hours are Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 pm.
 
Election Day will be Tuesday, May 24th from 7 am to 7 pm and will be conducted at the countywide polling places only.

The deadline for an application for a ballot by mail for this election is Friday, May 13. The application must be received by the office on this date.
 
Due to the election, the Volunteer Deputy Registrar training will not be conducted in May. The classes should resume in June.

I think the crime problem would be much better contained by a program of preemptive arrests: Simply appropriate high capacity locations, including the coliseum, and house residents at those locations either until the crime issues are completely solved, or for an indefinite duration. After the first year, we can begin to "sift out the chaff" by only releasing those who display good behavior.
