Martin W. Guinn, one of four participants in the recent Single Member District (SMD) 5 City Council's race, congratulates Lane Carter on taking the lead and offers his endorsement in the upcoming runoff election against Elizabeth Grindstaff.
"I urge those who voted for me to vote for Lane Carter," said Guinn.
Carter said he remains optimistic about the upcoming runoff.
"Mr. Guinn's vote of confidence is appreciated. I am truly thankful for all the citizens who supported me in the election. Now, I am asking voters in SMD 5 to cast their ballot for me once again, and let's finish what we started," he said.
Early voting will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., June 20-24, and from 7 a.m.-7p.m., June 27-28, in the Tom Green County Elections office. Election day polls open from 7.a.m. to 7 p.m., July 2, at the same 20 locations used in the May 7 election. Early voting will offer paper and electronic ballots. Election day voting is electronic ballot only.

So far, all of the former candidates have offered support for their opponents except one. R.A. Cantrall hasn't said who he'd endorse.
How about someone from SALive calling him for a comment.

PermalinkI vividly recall the day that Lane Carter knocked on the front door of my residence. My initial thoughts were "here's someone else trying to sell me something I do not need." Mr. Carter introduced himself to me and asked if I were Mr. "K" to which I replied "yes." He had been given a lead by a neighbor across from me who believed I would be interested in listening to him. Once I knew why he was here, I laid into him. He allowed me to vent my displeasure with the current City Council. Soon thereafter, I allowed him to speak and his first words were "Wow, perhaps you should be my campaign manager!" I was quick to let him know I was not interested! During the course of our conversation, Mr. Carter spoke about current issues that quickly caught my attention as I too had the same concerns. It did not take long for me to realize that this young man was just what we need...." FRESHNESS IN OUR CITY COUNCIL." You see folks, our city has remained "stagnant" because it lacks "fresh visions." Our City Council consists of too many members who have "made a life" of serving on this council. Clearly, it's time for members with "new" ideas and "visions" that will carry us into the future with positive results. One cannot argue that Elizabeth Grindstaff has served honorably. No arguing that she has done a good job throughout her career in San Angelo, TX. What I will state is that she is clearly nothing more than a "career" politician seeking political gain for a higher position sometime down the road (MAYOR)?? In my opinion, she has lost her "luster" and is no longer an appealing candidate. Lane Carter is a young, educated, man with lots of ambition, and a "fresh vision" that I believe will help take San Angelo, TX out of it's current stagnant position. Citizens of San Angelo, TX, it is time for change and I support Lane Carter! Citizens of San Angelo, TX, It is time for a "FRESH START."
