Early voting for the May 7 election in San Angelo started today and continues through May 3.
The hours to vote April 25 through April 29 are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on May 2 through May 3, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early voting will be conducted in the Election Office located on the first floor of the Edd B. Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave., and the second is at Wall Brethren Church, 7921 Loop 570 S, Wall. Hours will be the same for both locations.
Voters may vote with paper ballots or electronically during early voting; however, on May 7, election day, all voting will be done electronically. The May 7th election is for the City of San Angelo and Wall ISD.
Additionally, one of the polling places for election day has been relocated. MHMR Services at 1501 W. Beauregard will be open on May 7, but St. Paul Presbyterian will not be serving as a polling place.
The deadline to register or update voter information for the May 24 Primary Runoff election is tomorrow. The application must be in the election office or postmarked by the April 26. Ballot by Mail applications for the May 24 election must be received in the election office by May 13.
“Any voter [who] wishes to receive a ballot by mail must apply by calendar year now,” stated Election Administrator Vona Hudson. “Voters used to apply for each election, but due to a change in the law, they can apply for an annual application by marking the ‘Annual Application’ choice on the application.”
Voters are also reminded that, if they wish to vote in the May 24 primary runoff election, they must mark a party choice on the application. The May 24 primary runoff election is for Railroad Commissioner on both the Republican and Democratic ballots. The Republican ballot will also have a runoff for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, places 2 and 5.
If a voter did not vote in the primary election on March 1, they can vote for either party in the primary runoff election, but, if they voted a specific party in the primary, they are only eligible to vote that same party in the runoff election.
Voters applying for a ballot by mail due to being out of the county on election day are not able to apply for annual applications unless they meet one of the other criteria and the ballot must be mailed out of county.
“Once early voting has begun, the application cannot be turned in personally. It must be mailed, faxed, or scanned and emailed to us,” Hudson continued.
Voters can email their request to [email protected]. Ballot by mail applications, voting schedules, polling place locations as well as sample ballots may be found on the election website at www.votetomgreencounty.org.
For additional information, contact the election office at 325-659-6541, or via email at [email protected].

to pass a bond for what can only be described as a vanity school since every argument they present in favor of it is obviously bogus. If you have run across any of them you know what a big deal they like to make about how great Wall ISD is, well look forward to having your face rubbed in their brand new school. If you have to tell everybody every 2 seconds how awesome you are...
They claim to need it for safety reasons (mass shootings and weather risks) while incorporating the same "safety features" Sandy Hook had that took Adam Lanza less than a second to completely defeat, and in the next sentence pointing out that they will use the existing "unsafe" facilities for the HS and Jr HS students. Wait, what?
Then they plunked it down right next to Hwy 87 with the traffic flow onto the highway. I'm sure nothing bad will happen when a couple of hundred white SUV's driven by young mothers trying to finish applying their makeup merge into 75 mph traffic every morning. Maybe San Angelo LIVE! can just station a reporter out there to reduce the amount of time it takes to report on the carnage.
Of course, they are doing all of this while the school finance system in TX (including the way facilities are financed http://www.ttara.org/files/document/file-53ff84854afa8.pdf page 10 paragraphs 1b and 3) is in limbo as a result of a court ruling the current system unconstitutional and the Texas State Supreme Court is now considering the issue and due to rule by the end of next month. Simultaneously the School Board is in the process of searching for a new Superintendent. Welcome to Wall, now in addition to getting up to speed with your new position, here's a $20 million construction project for you to deal with too that your predecessor made a priority, so we expect you to as well. Does any of this make sense?
The proponents started a Facebook page ostensibly to "be a resource for concerned citizens who are looking for information about the potential bond issue." Then they promptly excluded everybody willing to post anything questioning the proposal or correcting the false information they were distributing, so another page was started https://www.facebook.com/WallISDBond/ where people could actually discuss both sides of the issue.
To summarize, they are rushing through a 26.5% property tax increase right before the state starts financing facilities and their new Superintendent comes on board to build a school that in many ways will be more dangerous than the existing one while moving other students to the facility they claim is unsafe. Wow!
