San Angelo Man Arrested for Severely Neglected and Emaciated Pit Bull

Since our last update yesterday, 24 more people made their way to the Tom Green County Jail for a variety of offenses. One San Angelo man, Christobal Guerrero Martinez, 56, went to jail for Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals.

Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said Martinez was charged yesterday after police discovered the man’s severely neglected dog tied to a fence in the 400 block of E. 19th St.

“A San Angelo Police officer who was in the area on an unrelated call for service heard what sounded like a dog coughing and became concerned,” explained Gonzalez. “The officer approached the residence and discovered a pit bull tied to a fence. The dog was dehydrated and emaciated, and the dog’s bones were visible through the skin.”

Gonzalez added that the officer, while waiting for Animal Control to respond, identified Martinez upon his arrival to his home. Animal Control arrived and seized the dog due to the poor living conditions and the dog’s weakened state of health.

“Martinez was arrested and transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident,” said Gonzalez.

This arrest marks Martinez’s seventh arrest. His crimes include indecency with a child, sexual assault of a child, unlawful possession of marijuana, public lewdness, burglary of a vehicle, criminal mischief, possession of a prohibited weapon, retaliation, burglary of a habitat, enticing a minor, fraudulent removal of writing and this incident.

In addition to Martinez, seven people were booked on new complaints; two people had both new complaints and outstanding warrants; and 15 people were arrested on warrants alone.

The new complaints consisted of the following:

  • Assault Causes Bodily Injury: 3
  • Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon: 1
  • USM Hold: 1
  • Evading Arrest: 1
  • Public Intoxication: 1
  • Controlled Substance: 1

What a wonderful guy. I'm glad our court system has let this guy wander our streets. With arrests like those, I would like to see him wander of a short pier.

Unfortunately this is your average pit bull owner . Good thing the guy had a large home owners policy , in case the dog got free and ate some body's kid .

Why is this bastard still walking around free with so many charges he's been charged with (most of them the same but just worded different!! HELLO!!!!!) and they just let him stroll around like he's a model citizen!!! Starve him, tie him to a fence.......it's only fair! My hearts with the animal!!
