The Teen Involved in Arden Road Crash Charged with Manslaughter

A teen driver involved in the February 17 fatal crash on Arden Road that killed 28-year-old Adrian Hernandez has been charged with manslaughter, said Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department.

Gonzalez said the driver, a 15-year-old male juvenile from San Angelo, was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center Wednesday.

“In the days following the deadly crash, investigators with the San Angelo Police Department’s Traffic Section, Criminal Investigations Division, and Crime Scene Investigations Section conducted a comprehensive investigation and obtained evidence to support the charge,” Gonzalez said.

She reiterated that Hernandez was attempting to enter onto Arden Road from Oxford Street when the teen driver’s 1992 Dodge Diesel pickup struck his vehicle. Hernandez was extricated from his 1998 Honda Accord and transported to Shannon Medical Center. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Gonzalez said investigators later determined the juvenile's truck to be traveling approximately 25 miles over the posted speed limit just prior to the crash.

CID Detective Kelly LaJoi and Traffic Investigator Ed Hunger were the lead investigators on this case. The driver’s name is not releasable due to his juvenile status.

I've seen and heard many comments on this accusing the teen of not having a valid drivers licence. To clear up any misunderatanding he does in fact hold a Valid Hardship License. ...he is an acquaintance of my son. Prayers go out to all involved.
