A young woman and child were driving southbound on US 87 near Apache Trail, north of FM 2105. Somehow, the woman lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road.
The silver late model GMC Envoy is wrapped around a tree.
Over the radio, first responders said the woman was ejected from the vehicle and was found in the field next to the car. She was unconscious but breathing with blood coming from her nose.
The child was in a car seat and appeared to be okay.
Ambulances transported both to hospital.
Texas DPS, Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department, San Angelo Fire Department, and San Angelo Medics are tending the scene.
We will update as more information becomes available.
Update 1:45 p.m.
Trooper Matt Walts with Texas DPS said the woman "left the roadway and entered the center median, over corrected, and went into a side skid."
She then crossed back into the south bound lane, crossing both lanes of traffic, and exited the roadway in the bar ditch. The side skid into the bar ditch caused the vehicle to roll multiple times.
The vehicle rolled down the pipe fence next to O.C. Fisher dam, and came to a rest against a tree, upside down.
"There were two people in the vehicle," Trooper Walts stated. "One was female and one was an infant."
The woman was ejected from the vehicle and is still responsive, but was taken by ambulance to Shannon Hospital.
The infant "appears to be fine," according to Trooper Walts.
Names are not being released until family is notified.

PermalinkPeople in this god awful city think that a "rollover" is no big deal, from where I am from, I don't remember anytime hearing of a rollover, and I am from one of the biggest cities in the U.S. You just don't roll your vehicle. If you don't blow a tire, then its most likely to be pre-occupation, with over compensation, with "shouldn't have a drivers licenses", and probably isolated to in the vehicle. It could be radio or phone or hahaha, kid choking. whatever that means. This is one of the most dangerous cities I have ever been in without question. I call "genetics"...lol

PermalinkWhat an idiot you are, Pat Bateman! You have no idea what happen to cause this accident. A young woman clings to life and all you want to do is run your stupid mouth. Why don't you make yourself useful and pray for this lady's recovery instead of being a jerk! Also, San Angelo is one of the safest places in the country. If you do not like it here, I will personally escort you to the city limits and kick your rear right out of our "dangerous" town. Just let me know when you want to leave!
