A 20-year-old San Angelo man who crashed his two-wheeled sports performance motorcycle in front of the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday was arrested and jailed after receiving treatment at Shannon Medical Center.
James Porter, who police say was speeding and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, had a warrant out for his arrest for misdemeanor criminal mischief when he went down in front of the law enforcement agency at roughly 4 p.m. Porter was injured in the crash and said that his performance sports bike malfunctioned prior to the crash; traffic investigator Brian Bylsma said that a part of his investigation will be to determine whether the performance sports motorcycle malfunctioned as Porter stated.
After being treated at Shannon Medical Center, Porter was booked into the Tom Green County Jail in his hospital gown with clear abrasions on his forehead and nose. He is currently being held in lieu of a $1,000 bond.

PermalinkWe're having trouble with with the other term with the very sanctimonious readers originating from Facebook (the largest population of sanctimoniousness on planet earth!).

PermalinkIt's because the term "crotch rocket" isn't used anymore and is pretty much a derogatory term at this point but this site seems to love throwing it out any chance they get. Then to change to " 2-Wheeled Sports Performance Motorcycle" is a pretty smarky middle finger to everyone that complained. Just call it what it is (Yamaha, Honda, etc.) and if you're not sure then just call it a sportbike like you call others a cruiser when you don't know the model.
Not everyone that owns a sportbike (myself included) rides like a friggin maniac at 100mph.

PermalinkIt's been around forever, is not offensive, and is applied specifically to the "Crotch Rocket" type motorcycle. When you ask anybody who rides a "crotch rocket" what type of bike their "GSXR 600" is, they're likely to respond "It's a sport bike." It's a good neutral term.

PS: I'm digging the getup that he's wearing in the mugshot. Is that a hospital gown or scrubs or something?
