An officer with the Brady Police Department is behind bars this afternoon, following a grand jury indictment alleging three counts of sexual assault of a child.
Felix Sanchez-Saravia, 23, is accused of engaging sexual intercourse with a teenage girl between 14 and 16 years of age on three separate dates, including April 1, 2014, May 1, 2014, and Sept. 5, 2014.
A grand jury in McCulloch County met on Monday and handed down the three-count indictment; Sanchez-Saravia was subsequently jailed by Texas Ranger Joel Timms.
A bond for Sanchez-Saravia’s release has been set at $10,000 per count, and conditions on that bond forbid him from being within 100 yards of the victim or initiating any contact. Sanchez-Saravia would also be required to report to the McCulloch County Jail once a week upon release, and must adhere to the registration requirements for Texas sex offenders. As of 4 p.m. on Aug. 24, Sanchez-Saravia remained in custody.
The Chief of the Brady Police Department was not available Monday for comment.
Sexual assault of a child is a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
The case is being prosecuted by 452nd District Attorney Tonya Ahlschwede.
