A 27-year-old man up early on Thursday morning has been thrown in jail after kidnapping the mother of his children and holding her against her will for several hours.
The kidnapping occurred at the Nueva Vista Apartments at 2401 N. Lillie St., when Andrew Rene Padilla showed up at his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend's door and forced her into the car, police said.
At 11:02 a.m., San Angelo police received a call for an unknown problem at 6th St. and MLK, where the female victim had begun to struggle with Padilla in an effort to get free. Sgt. Cade Solsbery, Public Information Officer for the SAPD, explained that as police conducted the investigation they learned that the victim began to hit her captor as they neared the McDonald's on N. Bryant and managed to get out of the vehicle. As she exited, someone called the police, who arrived at the scene and arrested Padilla for kidnapping.
The kidnapping is being investigated by Detective Travis Kolbe.
Padilla posted a $25,000 surety bond this afternoon and was released from jail.

Ex-girlfriend, they were never married, she just had his kids. What ever happened to birth control? Why do so many women have unprotected sex today. Why is it okay to have babies with whoever loves you at the time but doesn't marry you. What does this tell the kids? How important do they feel? I realize this wasn't the point of the story but it is the part that really set me off to begin with. This woman has kids with this idiot that ties her to him forever. Maybe she was smart enough not to marry him but it is to bad she wasn't smart enough to use birth control.
