DPS Seizes $330k in Pot

 

AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Wednesday on IH-40, yielding 54 pounds of marijuana valued at over $330,000.

At approximately 11:25 a.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Honda Civic traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Groom in Carson County.

The driver of the Civic was identified as Adolfo Megia-Hernandez, 34, of Kennewick, Wash. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered 41vacumn sealed bags of marijuana in the trunk.

Megia-Hernandez was placed under arrest for possession and delivery of marijuana over 50 pounds but less than 2000 pounds, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Kennewick, Wash., to Dallas.
