Wanted Man Fights with Police, Gets Busted with Meth and Heroin

Willie Clifford Montgomery was out for a stroll late Sunday night in the unit block of W. 8th St., when he caught the eye of an officer, who noticed he was walking on the wrong side of the road. 

When the officer stopped Montgomery, 36, to advise him of the traffic law he was violating, Montgomery stood by as the man in blue checked for warrants. The radio came back affirmative--Montgomery had two warrants for a marijuana possession charge--and, having heard dispatch's return, Montgomery fled on foot to avoid apprehension. 

During his flight, the suspect tripped and fell on his own accord and was taken into custody by officers Frank Flores and Tony Dietz. Little baggies of various drugs flew off his person during the fall, which later field tested positive for marijuana, heroin and meth. 

As officers attempted to load Montgomery into the transport van he resisted and became combative, however was eventually successfully secured in the vehicle. Complaining of an injury to his face sustained in the fall, Montgomery was transported to Shannon Medical Center, where he was treated. 

Back at the transport van Montgomery again became combative and spit on officers, turning to officer Charles Barker and threatening to take his gun and shoot him in the face. He was then transported to the Tom Green County Jail, where he was booked on one count of evading arrest, one count of resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine one to four grams, possession of heroin less than one gram, possession of marijuana, obstruction/retaliation and the two warrants, one of which was from Orange County.
