Two crashes occurred early Saturday morning in San Angelo. At the 2500 block on Lindenwood Dr., a Ford Mustang crashed into the house, driving the vehicle into the family’s den through the fireplace, then backed out. Upon backing out and fleeing the scene, the entire chimney collapsed into the lawn on onto the hood of the Mustang.
San Angelo police followed the trail of bricks and debris from the fleeing suspect and found him around the block with bricks still on the hood.
When we left the scene to report on a rollover crash on TX-208, police were still assessing the situation by giving the fleeing driver a field sobriety test.
The house crash happened at 1:45 a.m.
At about the same time, a driver of a black GMC pickup lost control, rolled over several times, and ended up well off the roadway of TX 208, 50 yards into the adjacent pasture. The crash happened about one mile north of the intersection of Red Creek Road. According to the investigating Texas DPS trooper, one person was sent to the hospital. This crash happened just after 1:30 a.m.

PermalinkThe hit and run situation is so common at this point that it is laughable.

PermalinkBut isn't the chimney also culpable in this situation? A lot of local fenceposts and buildings have a habit of jumping out at drivers, unexpectedly.
