Police Arrest Shooting Suspect, Search for Additional Gunmen

One arrest has been made in connection to a shooting incident that occurred yesterday in a north San Angelo neighborhood. 

Jarrett Jackson, 23, of San Angelo, has been charged with obstruction/retaliation after confirming Jackson’s involvement in the shooting. Police are searching for additional suspects who are believed to be involved, however, no arrests have been made at this time.

Police were dispatched to the 500 block of W. 16^th just before 2:00 p.m. on March 24, after receiving multiple calls for shots fired in the area. When officers arrived, they located evidence that a shooting had occurred. Several adult and child witnesses were located. No one was injured during the incident. Their names are not being released at this time.

After a lengthy investigation, police learned Jackson went to a residence in the area with at least two other men to locate an acquaintance he had a history of conflict with, when Jackson and the other men engaged the residents in a verbal altercation. At some point during the altercation, one or more unknown persons from both groups began shooting at each other from the street. After the shooting, Jackson and the men reportedly fled the area northbound on Hudson in a white passenger car.  

Detectives with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Special Operations Section (SOS) along with CSI responded to investigate and collect evidence. Jackson was located several hours after the shooting and brought in for questioning. After the interview, Detectives charged Jackson with obstruction/retaliation because the unnamed acquaintance is a party to a previous criminal case against Jackson.
