Manhunt Ensues for Suspected Car Thieves, One Remains at Large

A multi-agency search is currently underway near Homestead Circle and Loop 306, where law enforcement officers are looking for a white male who ran from officers this morning and is a suspect in multiple vehicle thefts.

Tom Green County Sheriff's Office (SO) Lieutenant Christina Lopez explained that the SO received several calls concerning the thefts beginning at 1 a.m. this morning, when a resident in the 2000 block of Moreland Road stated that a gold Ford F-150 had been taken from the residence. The caller notified dispatch that the suspect drove away in the F-150 on Paint Rock Road.

Deputies responded to that location, conducted a search of the area, but were unable to locate the stolen vehicle, Lopez said. After returning to service, the Sheriff's Office received an additional call reporting that a motorcycle stolen from within the city limits was located in the  9000 block of W. Carlsbad Loop.

When the deputies arrived to take a report, they found out that a few days prior, a 1996 green Chevrolet pickup was also taken. The motorcycle had been attached by trailer to the pickup, Lopez said.

Deputies processed the scene and took information and at 7:06 a.m., a third call came into the Sheriff's Office, at which time the caller stated that two suspicious vehicles were located at FM 380 and Riverwood Road. The caller indicated that there were two pickups present. When deputies arrived on scene, there were two suspects with the golden Ford F-150 that had previously been reported stolen. Along with that pickup was a 2012 black Chevrolet pickup that had also been stolen within city limits.

Both vehicles were recovered at that time, and one of the suspects, Chad Ramirez, 22, was arrested and transported to the Tom Green County Jail, where he was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, as well as other charges. The second suspect eluded police on foot and is still at large since 7 a.m. He has, however been identified, and deputies are obtaining a warrant for his arrest.

At 10:45 a.m., another call came in to the Sheriff's Office stating that the suspect had been spotted in the vicinity of Homestead Circle near Loop 306. Currently, multiple law enforcement agencies, including the SO, SAPD, SAPD K9 unit, TxDPS and Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens are out searching for the suspect.

The suspect has been described as a white male, 5'5", weighing 140 pounds with dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and khaki pants. If you have any information on the suspect or his whereabouts, please call 325-655-8111.

Update 4:16 p.m.

The second suspect is still on the loose and deputies are advising anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to report that information immediately.
