Grape Creek Teacher Investigated for Alleged Relationship with Student

A first year English teacher at Grape Creek High School in under investigation for having a sexual relationship with a student.

According to Tom Green County Sheriff’s Department reports, an investigation was opened Feb. 12, when Grape Creek High School principal Roger Henderson summoned the sheriff’s department to conduct an investigation into an alleged relationship between teacher Allison Lewallen and a male student.

The school’s assistant principal Carla Barron was concerned about the teacher’s mental wellbeing, the report states.

“Mrs. Lewallen had been having issues lately, which have caused her to cry at the school,” deputy Stewart Potter wrote in the report, attributing this to what Barron told him.

The report said that Barron witnessed Lewallen and the teenage male student walking alone into Lewallen’s classroom. That’s when Barron turned on the intercom and eavesdropped on the conversation.

In the conversation over the intercom, Barron said she heard Lewallen tell the student, that she “did not want it to end this way” multiple times, in between mumbles and sobbing. Barron said she heard both Lewallen and the student crying.

During the conversation, Barron reported, the student asked Lewallen, “so I will be passing?” At the end of the conversation, the report said, Barron overheard the student telling Lewallen that he loved her.

Barron summoned Henderson over to listen to the intercom as well.

Henderson called Lewallen to his office and questioned her on the conversation both principals had overheard. Lewallen denied the conversation and stated that she and the male student are “just friends,” the report states.

According to Henderson’s recollection of the conversation, Lewallen said that the student had called her drunk asking for a ride home from a party, the report states. Both principals told the deputy that the school has a strict policy against teachers exchanging phone numbers or following or “friending” each other on social media sites like Facebook.

Henderson also questioned the student about the relationship. According to the report, the student told the principal that he cared about Mrs. Lewallen but that they were just friends. Henderson pressed, relaying information he overheard over the intercom. Henderson said the student broke down crying and admitted that he and Lewallen did have sexual relations, the report states.

Lewallen was newly married in early 2014. This was her first job after graduating from Angelo State University in May. Until her suspension, she taught English III and Advanced Placement English IV classes.

“In any situation like this, it is sad and tragic,” Tom Green County Chief Deputy Sheriff Dale Pearce said. Pearce said that since the incident is still under investigation, he could not comment further.

The Grape Creek ISD superintendent Barbie McMath did not return multiple calls.

Why do you think it's "gross" or "creepy" that a young man under 18, not a "child", is involved in a sexual relationship? Or perhaps getting drunk for that matter. That's reality RB. The teacher, if this is true, perhaps has exhibited a lack of self-responsibility that led her to get into this situation to begin, possibly destroying her career, and also putting her marriage in jeopardy.

I was wondering the same thing. Also entrapment? I don't know a lot about all that. I know it was wrong but I will still pray for the student and the teacher.

This chick just ruined her life. She will lose her career, her new husband, and will be a registered sexual offender. I doubt that she will go to jail, because women teachers don't ever go to jail for this. Even still, I hope she likes flipping burgers...because that's about the best job she's going to be able to get.

She is in a public place and therefore cannot have any expectation of privacy. She is also aware (as are all school faculty) that the intercom can be turned on at any point in time for any reason...especially if an administrator suspects any form of illegal activity is taking place. It's like you saying bad things about your boss to a coworker in the employee restroom, he walks in, hears you, and then fires you. It's definitely not entrapment as entrapment requires a law enforcement agent to coerce a person to commit a criminal offense that the person would have otherwise been unlikely to commit.

No..this woman is screwed

This is so very Tragic! I just do not understand why people let sex destroy their lives. This Woman’s poor poor Husband. She has made him the biggest fool in town. The total lack of regard and respect on her part for him and their marriage shows how she really feels about him. I hope they did not have Children. She is obviously too immature to be married or be in a Profession of that stature. Life isn’t a game as she is going to realize very quickly. Her Parents must be mortified!
That is the problem hiring people who are barley adults themselves right out of college to teach our children. Why not make them do an internship before letting them take that responsibility?
I really feel for the young man and his parents. They must be beside themselves with rage. I am sure many will be giving the young man congrats for bagging the hot Teacher, but he needs to know that this is wrong. Cheating hurts and it destroys lives. Deep inside a little voice was telling him it was wrong. How would he like it if she was his Wife and someone did that to him? I fear this is going to damage him in his future relationships. Shame on her for teaching him that cheating is fine as long as you get your gratification. I just hope that he learns from this for his own sake or his life will be total turmoil or possibly death.
In these Dark Days I appeal to all Parents, please teach your children morality. Teach them about the sanctuary of marriage as God intended.
God Bless all involved…..So very very Tragic.

Deborah L - I bet you are a reformed smoker. You say the student and his parents are "beside themselves with rage" I doubt they are overjoyed but I read daily of thousands of worse things that happen to families. If the teacher graduated only last year there is only a small difference in their ages. They are both students, basically. In this story, the eavesdroppers, tattle-tales and gossips deserve at least as much ridicule.

You know nothing about me and it is obvious you are an idiot. And no I never smoked but you obviously have problems with Former smokers. Again idiot.

She was a 1st-year teacher and so it was a "small difference" in their age? Would you like to provide a source for that claim for everyone? Do you have any? I can't imagine why you'd leave that out if you had evidence...Oh, wait, because that's an assertion which is just bullsh*t. I'd like to see how those who are defending this female predator would react had this been a Male teacher and a female student. People and their double standards, it's not really too shocking because projection and hypocrisy go hand in hand.
