Farmer and Self File for Re-Election

District 2 Councilman Marty Self on Wednesday filed his candidacy for re-election to the San Angelo City Council in the May 9 election. Councilwoman Charlotte Farmer filed for re-election Tuesday.

The filing period continues through Feb. 27.

Four of the City Council’s seven seats are slated to be on the ballot – the mayor’s post plus the District 2, 4 and 6 seats. City Council terms are two years.

Self is seeking a second consecutive term; he previously served in the District 2 seat from 1989-95. He is the fourth candidate to have filed for a spot on the ballot. The others are:

• Mayor – Dwain Morrison.
• District 4 – Andrew Justis.
• District 6 – Charlotte Farmer.

Candidates file the necessary paperwork in the City Clerk’s office in Room 210 on the second floor of City Hall, 72 W. College Ave. The office is open from 8 a.m.-noon and from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
