Police released the names of the victims in Tuesday night’s rollover crash on the Houston Harte Expressway. At 10 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle rollover crash at the 1700 block of the Houston Harte Expressway, in the westbound lanes between Howard and Garfield Streets. Upon arrival, police saw a 2015 Chevrolet Captiva severely damaged from multiple rolls and a 2013 Hyundai Tucson SUV damaged from what was later determined to be a rear-end collision. Both vehicles were off the roadway.
According to the San Angelo police report, the driver of the Tucson, Nicole Archer (06/16/79), was traveling west on Houston Harte in the outside lane at a normal rate of speed. The driver of the Chevrolet Captiva, Megan Jensen (04/26/95), and passenger, Tyler Howe (01/27/85), were also westbound traveling at a high rate of speed. The Captiva collided with the Tucson from behind causing both vehicles to lose control. During the crash, Jensen was ejected from the vehicle.
The Tucson came to rest to the right of the roadway near the shoulder. The Captiva came to rest in the left median. Jensen was listed as having incapacitating injuries. Archer and Howe were listed with non-incapacitating injuries. All involved were taken to Shannon Hospital.
During the traffic investigation police believed alcohol might be a factor in the crash. No charges have been filed at this time and a DWI investigation is ongoing. At the scene last night, police said that they suspect the driver of the Captiva, identified as Jensen, may have be driving while intoxicated.
For now, Jensen was cited for traveling at an unsafe speed.
